How would you like to have a gift you made to Lutherans Concerned/North America DOUBLED or even multiplied up to 100-times?  Well on November 16th for 24 HOURS ONLY, you have the opportunity to do just that!  For the second year in a row, GiveMN.org is sponsoring "Give to the Max Day" and LC/NA is participating.  On this day, any donation given through GiveMN.org will be MATCHED dollar for dollar up to $7,000.  In addition, 24 special "Golden Ticket" winners will earn their non-profits an additional $1,000 grant from GiveMN.org!  GiveMN.org, an online charitable giving site for Minnesota-based nonprofits, was launched a year ago.  In 2009 donors to LC/NA gave over $13,000.

Consider making your gift online between midnight (12:00 AM CST) on Tuesday, November 16th and midnight (12:00 AM CST) on Wednesday, November 17th to increase the impact of your gift. This is a very special opportunity for those who feel they cannot give as much as they would like, those who cannot find matching funds elsewhere, for those outside Minnesota, and for those who really want to make a contribution in these difficult economic times.

This year the matching pledges have come from two LC/NA donor couples:

The Rev. Chris and Claudine Berry have pledged $5,000 in matching funds with the expressed desire to increase awareness and support for our anti-bullying campaign including congregational resources and ELCA legislation at synod assemblies leading to the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in August 2011. Chris heads the Goodsoil Legislative Team and is a campus pastor. He and his son Jonathan have written and trained youth, young adult and adult volunteers in the principles of anti-bullying, turning by-standers to allies.

Leslee Froelich and Deanna Eichler, members of the Austin/Central Texas Chapter of LC/NA and Living Word Lutheran Church (RIC), Buda, Texas, have given $2,000 in matching funds in memory of Emily Eastwood's brother Robert Matthew Eastwood who died on October 25th. Matt and his family were dedicated allies supporting Emily and the work of LC/NA.

Other important things you should know:

* All donations are tax deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law.

* Contributions may be made via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) only.

* The minimum contribution is $10. There is no maximum contribution.

* Donors do not have to live in Minnesota, since LC/NA is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

* Give to the Max has a promotion in which one donor per hour (24 total) will be randomly selected for a "Golden Ticket" prize grant.  "Golden Ticket" grants will add $1,000 to the donor's contribution.  For a donation of $10, that would result in a $100 per $1 match!  For you night owls, consider making your donations during off-peak hours to increase your odds of being selected for one of the $1,000 additional grants.

How to do it:

1. Visit GiveMN.org between midnight (12:00 AM CST) on Tuesday, November 16th and midnight (12:00 AM CST) on Wednesday, November 17th.

2. Make a donation on the right side of the page.

3. A large number of donations during peak periods of the day may cause delays. If so, please go back later.

You may also browse other MN-based non-profits that you would be interested in supporting. Please do that after your donation to LC/NA!

Emily Eastwood said, "In the past three weeks Thanksgiving has come early for me. My profound thanks are due to Chris, Claudine, Leslie and Deanna. Their leadership sends a message to all of us that now is a special time, a kairos time, a time for grieving, and a time to join together in creating the change we seek, a church and a world that welcomes and includes so that the children of our hearts may live long and full lives knowing from their birth that they are loved, accepted and valued without condition.

"I am grateful for organizations, like GiveMN.org who make philanthropy a whole lot easier. I hope that many of our members and supporters take the opportunity to have their contribution make an increased impact."

We will send a follow-up All Member Email that details how much was given on Give to the Max day.
