The ELCA Churchwide Assembly 2009 (CWA09) is fast approaching, and Goodsoil is getting ready! The Assembly is August 17—23, 2009 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Assembly will consider a Social Statement on Human Sexuality and its Implementing Resolutions, as well as the separate Report and Recommendation on Ministry Policies concerning the rostering of individuals in committed, same-gender relationships — all forwarded by the ELCA Church Council to the upcoming Churchwide assembly for deliberation and action.
Attention is starting to turn toward the Churchwide Assembly. In order to bring about policy change in a graceful way, Goodsoil needs hundreds of participants and volunteers to sing in the hallway, distribute items, vigil in the plenary hall, pray in the worship hall, and gracefully engage with voting members in the hall and at meals. We need your presence and gifts at CWA09.
To sign up, visit www.goodsoil.org and click on "Sign Up" on the home page. Enter your name, email and contact information. Once you hit "submit" you will receive a confirmation email with a pin number. Remember these, since we will use the pin number to match your contact information with your volunteer options.
Return to www.goodsoil.org and click on "Volunteer for Goodsoil at Churchwide Assembly". Enter your email and pin number. Below the email and pin, you will find a listing of opportunities available during the week of CWA. Please select the opportunities that fit into your schedule and gifts to offer.
Once you have registered to volunteer, we will communicate with you about possible hotel arrangements.
Please note that there are more public opportunities that do not require signing up. There will be an educational event on Tuesday, August 18 at 8:30. Goodsoil worship will be at 7:30 on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30 pm at Central Lutheran Church (right across the street from the convention center). There will be gatherings, prayer, worship, and parties on Friday and Saturday nights. These events are open to the public and do not require a pre-registration.
Thanks for your good work to cultivate a church that spreads the love of Christ to all God's children! |
