The time is drawing nigh. The dictionary says of “nigh” that it is both an adverb and an adjective, and carries the meaning of near. It even has comparative uses in the forms “nigher” and “nighest.” So, it’s a versatile word to tell those who have yet to sign up to attend assembly in July, but intend to, that the time to do is here, now, do it.
Registration online is going to close shortly. It’s the most convenient form of “getting ’er done” devised since the invention of carbon paper and mechanical pencils (people under the age of 35 can ask me later what those objects were/are).
This assembly, Let Justice Roll Down Like Waters, stands to be the best assembly we have had thus far, and that is no exaggeration. In addition to the opportunity for fellowship and renewal of friendships and associations from previous gatherings, we will be seriously uplifted and challenged to make better our commitment to the spreading of the word of Christ, to supporting the ministries of the Church to relieve pain and suffering wherever it exists, and to continuing to help the Church to be as fully inclusive as Christ said it should be.
We are going to have excellent workshops that will provide you with the tools and knowledge you will need to carry out the work of the church, the work of advocating for those most in need of your help, and improving your ability to carry the messages of the Gospel through your actions and your very being.
I diverge: We gather in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, called the Twin Cities for whatever reason. Puzzling to me — they don’t actually look very much like each other, in my experience and from looking at the map. But, before you take it in mind to send me an email correcting my ignorance, they are both wonderful places.
I diverged.
We gather in the Twin Cities, July 7—11, 2010, with the 7th being for pre-events, vastly interesting in their own right, prior to the actual start of the assembly on the 8th.
Details you can find at www.lcna.org/assembly. Go, look at the details, and then fill out your registration form. Online.
The time for registration to close is NIGH.
Don’t make me send Garrison Keillor to talk to you about this… Just get ’er done. |
