Reconciling Lutherans, a personal stance in favor of full inclusion PDF Print E-mail

Dear Partners in Ministry:

Sign up and be counted! Lutherans Concerned is encouraging thousands of individuals to sign up as "Reconciling Lutherans." Go to www.lcna.org/RL for more information about taking this personal stance for full inclusion.

Our goal is to have 10,000 Reconciling Lutherans by the start of churchwide assembly in August. Each name added to this public roster of Reconciling Lutherans will strengthen the call to the church to become truly welcoming and inclusive.

In the vanguard of this are the RIC settings around the ELCA, worshipful communities who have announced their stance for full inclusion publically. But, every member of every RIC setting, every RIC congregation, ought to take the further step of publically indicating their personal commitment to full inclusion, by becoming a Reconciling Lutheran. Edina Community Lutheran Church in Edina, Minnesota is, so far, leading the way in this. If every RIC congregation followed the example of Edina Community Lutheran, we would be well on the way to demonstrating to the breadth of the desire for full inclusion.

Suggestions:

  • Set up one or more computers connected to the Internet in your church building: in the fellowship hall, narthex, or other convenient place. Invite your congregation to sign up online as they come and go for worship and other activities.
  • Make hard copies of the Reconciling Lutherans Covenant available for all to sign and send to Lutherans Concerned / North America (PO Box 4707, St Paul, MN 55104-0707).
  • Put a blurb in your congregation's bulletin inviting people to sign up either at your church or online at www.lcna.org/RL
