Global Mission Event welcomes Lutherans Concerned

Those who attend the Global Mission Event are often labeled as a radical bunch; they are out there pushing the envelope, while working in parts of the world where the issue of welcome to LGBT is a difficult, if not seemingly impossible topic to discuss. But at their recent gathering in La Crosse, Wisconsin, we were warmly received and made to feel very welcomed and very much a part of their mission. Messages from the keynote speakers spoke of welcome and inclusion. They talked about oppression and reconciliation. They talked about the need to listen and follow the words of Jesus to love one another.

Many contacts were made, including wonderful support from seminary students from all over the world. We hosted two sessions of our workshop, "Welcome and Hospitality," and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the stoles from the "For All the Saints" stoles project and listening to the stories pour out in our workshop and as people marveled over the stories on the stoles. All in all a wonderful event that we hope to attend again and again!
