Press Advisory: Lutherans Concerned/North America to comment on March 13 release of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Draft Social Statement on Sexuality

On March 13, 2008, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) will release the Draft Social Statement on Sexuality within the church.

Lutherans Concerned / North America (LC/NA) will comment on the draft social statement by press release on that date, and spokespersons, including Executive Director Emily Eastwood, will be available at the LC/NA main office in St Paul, Minnesota, at 651-665-0861.

The draft social statement will be available on the ELCA website, after its release on March 13th. Hearings will be held throughout the ELCA between March and November 2008, with a view to incorporating the feedback received on the draft into a final proposed statement that is given to the ELCA Church Council in early 2009. The Church Council will be asked to place the statement on the agenda of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly, taking place in Minneapolis, August 7–13, 2009.
